God Uses His Vessels "As Is"

Have you ever gone to the clearance area of a store? Sometimes the items there are marked down to a ridiculously cheap price. Most of the time the item is so cheap because it is broken, damaged or otherwise flawed. You buy the item "as is" aka: what you see is what you get.

God doesn't really have much to work with when it comes to using human beings for the advancement of His kingdom. We are flawed, and often times broken vessels. Sure, He doesn't need us, but He wants to use us. He uses us "as is". There is a song I really love about this called "As Is" by Peder Eide, here is some of it:

Samson was a long haired, arrogant, womanizer
Rahab was a scarlet corded lady of the street
John the Baptist eating bugs and honey on his bread
Gideon a scaredy-cat and Lazarus was dead

As is, As is
He chooses us as His
As Is, As is
Infuses us as is
with never ending
love transcending
all our weaknesses
no excuses He uses us "As Is"

The song goes on to list more people from God's Word that were, in all frankness, screw ups, until God got a hold of them and used them for great things. God uses us despite and sometimes even because of our mistakes and this song explains that clearly, if, umm, unconventionally.

Ok, so here is a glimpse into Victoria World. Lately God has been calling me into things that I don't think I am ready for AT ALL. I have no skill or experience in the ministry He has told me to be apart of. This ministry is filled with talented, creative people, that know exactly what they are doing. I come out as clumsy, and scatter-brained teenager. And I have to admit I am intimidated at being the "new kid" as well as the youngest of this team. For a very long time I was questioning God and refused to submit to His will. I had so many excuses, the biggest of which is that I am not good enough.

I am startling to come to the realization that if God has called me, He will give me what it takes to get the job done. He wouldn't tell me to do something He knows I would not be able to accomplish. I may be useless on my own, but when I choose to be in sync with God's will, He will enable me to do whatever I have do. '

If God tells me to do something, who am I to question His reasons.

Don't be afraid to do what God calls you to do. He will use you "as is" to do mighty things for His glory.

No excuses, He uses us "As Is"

-Victoria-
