The Loveliness of the Rose

The gentility, loveliness and femininity of being a woman, is something overlooked by modern feminists. It is an integral part of biblical woman though. It is not the whole part, but I will cover that part in another post.

The first thing we need to understand ladies, is that we are physically and sometimes emotionally weaker than men. This is just a fact of life. Want proof? Here is is from the Good Book.

Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.
I Peter 3:7 NKJ (all the verses I quote will be from this version)

There it is ladies, the sooner we accept it, the easier life will be for everyone. We aren't weaklings but we are weaker than men are. When we fight this system and try to be "just as good as a man" we are rebelling against God's order of things.

As women we should be gentle, kind and compassionate. All Christians should be, but women have a special gift for that, we are wired that way. If you aren't, run to Jesus and he will cultivate those feeling in you. We need to reach out to the poor, use our compassion for the broken hearted, add our feminine gentleness to soften hearts.

She opens her mouth with wisdom, And on her tongue is the law of kindness. Proverbs 31:26

Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous 1 Peter 3:8

As woman our domain is our home.
"that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed." Titus 2:4-5

Our job is to be a home maker. That sounds like a beautiful job to me. Making a structure of wood and sheet rock an inviting home. We need to learn how to cook, clean, decorate, and generally make a building inviting and comfortable.

I am certainly not perfect. I try to have grace and gentleness, but my sin nature wants to be course and crude, far from being a lady. Whatever your weakness is, know this, you will never perfect it. Because we are tied to this earth we are stuck in our sin natures even after redemption, but TRY ANYWAY. With the Lord's help we could get farther than we ever could on our own. Remember, we can do NOTHING good on our own. God has instilled these womanly qualities in us.

  1. Wow, this is an awesome blog! As Martin Luther put it, "A woman must be a woman and cannot be a man."
We are each created for a specific and beautiful job. Your blog reminds women to be women.

    God Bless,
